Sellers....   As you know, the real estate market in south Mississippi has slowed. It hasn't slowed as much here as in other parts of the country though, largely due to our expanding local economy. Contrary to the sound bites that we hear from the national news media, homes are selling in south Mississippi. Have prices decreased over the past year; yes they have. However, unless you liquidated the equity in your home or over invested in upgrades and have owned your home for 3-5 years, you should be in good shape as to accumulated equity and the ability to sell in a fair and open market.   There are a thousand or so real estate agents in south Mississippi. About half are inactive at the moment due to the slow market, another half are only pursuing real estate as a part time job, and about half of those remaining are actually earning their living by practicing real estate.    Many of those agents will be happy to list your home regardless of the listing price and regardless if they actually expect to be able to sell your home at the listing price. Why? For self promotion mainly.
